In Atraxia, a social platform called THREAD has been running for twenty-two years and has never deleted anything. Zeo Vance and the small crew who work out of a basement called The Blindspot discover that THREAD is the continuation of ATLAS LOG — a Directorate surveillance program officially cancelled in 2003, built to keep a complete life diary on every citizen from birth to death. A dying archivist named Sol Dray hands Zeo the proof and asks for two things before he goes: publish it, and destroy what's already stored. The data sits in SILO, two levels under the city, behind an air-gapped node that has to be physically touched — and the key to reach it is held by a senior architect the Directorate declared dead nine years ago. Zeo's father. As the crew plans a way in, Sera Novak of Directorate Field Operations is handed orders that stop at resolution rather than containment.
