The Story of Rasputin
True Crime
20 Episodes
Note on dates: In December 1916, the Russian Empire still used the Julian calendar, 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar used in the West. All calendar dates in this series are given in both the Julian (Old Style) form used at the time and the Gregorian (New Style) form used today. The murder itself took place across the night of 16–17 December 1916 Old Style, which corresponds to 29–30 December 1916 New Style. It is one of the most-analysed political homicides of the twentieth century — and one of the very few in which the sworn confession of the principal killer contradicts almost every finding of the official autopsy.
